Injury Updates For Players On June Top 30 Prospects Lists

We’ve updated our Top 30 Prospects lists for our June update. Below are injury updates for Top 30 Prospects.

Angels

LHP Ky Bush (4) began the season on the injured list with a lat strain. He is pitching in rehab games in the Arizona Complex League and is slated to be sent to Double-A Rocket City shortly.

RHP Coleman Crow (17) has been on the injured list since May 12 with an elbow injury. He is throwing bullpens but does not have a set return date.

RHP Ryan Costieu (22) had Tommy John surgery and will be out until 2024.

Astros

RHP Forrest Whitley (17) suffered a right lat strain in late May. He is expected to miss 3-4 months, adding to his injury-plagued career.  

3B Will Wagner (20) has been out since May 21 with right wrist discomfort.  

Athletics

RHP Mason Miller (2) is shut down with a mild elbow sprain. He has begun throwing in his rehab process. 

Blue Jays

LHP Ricky Tiedemann (1) missed the first week of the season with shoulder soreness and has been out since May 4 with biceps inflammation. He is week-to-week. 

LHP Brandon Barriera (3) was shut down in late May with elbow soreness. He is currently throwing from 90 feet and preparing for bullpen sessions.  

Braves

RHP J.R. Ritchie (2) had Tommy John surgery in late May and will miss the rest of the season.  

RHP Cole Phillips (10) is progressing in his rehab from last year’s Tommy John surgery. He is expected to debut in the Florida Complex League later this summer.  

RHP Seth Keller (13) has been on the injury list since May 23 with forearm soreness.  

RHP Blake Burkhalter (15) had Tommy John surgery in March and will miss the season.  

RHP Darius Vines (16) has been on the injured list since Opening Day with right shoulder inflammation. 

RHP Adam Maier (18) has yet to make his pro debut after having an internal brace procedure to stabilize the UCL in his right elbow last year. He is currently rehabbing at the Braves complex in Florida.

RHP Brooks Wilson (28) has returned from last year’s Tommy John surgery and made his season debut at Low-A Rome on June 15.

Brewers

OF Garrett Mitchell (5) was on the cusp of graduating from prospect status, but he hasn’t played since April 18. He had surgery to repair damage to the labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder that should sideline him the rest of the season. 

OF Sal Frelick (2) missed seven weeks after injuring his left thumb sliding into second base on April 18. He had surgery and returned to Triple-A Nashville on June 14. 

Cardinals

RHP Inohan Paniagua (21) has been on the injured list since Opening Day with right shoulder tightness.  

Cubs

OF Brennen Davis (9) was placed on the injured list with an undisclosed injury on June 7. Cubs officials plan to make a formal announcement specifying Davis’ injury and return timeline soon. 

OF Alexander Canario (12) is in Arizona rehabbing from a broken left ankle and dislocated left shoulder he suffered last year in the Dominican Winter League. He is taking batting practice and running on flat ground but does not have a set timeline to return to games. 

RHP Ben Leeper had his third Tommy John surgery in April. He will be out until 2024. 

LHP Drew Gray has returned from last year’s Tommy John surgery and is on rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League. 

RHP Nazier Mule had Tommy John surgery in March after he was diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow. He will be out until 2024. 

SS Ed Howard has returned from last year’s season-ending hip injury. He played in rehab games in extended spring training and returned to Low-A South Bend on June 6.

D-backs

OF Druw Jones (3) has been on the injured list since April 22 with a right quad strain. He has begun a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League and is set to return to Low-A Visalia shortly. 

RHP Landon Sims (6) has returned from last year’s Tommy John surgery and is pitching in rehab games in the Arizona Complex League.

2B Andrew Pintar (28) rolled his ankle charging in on a ball on April 25 and was placed on the seven-day injured list the next day. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 10. 

Dodgers

Dalton Rushing (6) is in concussion protocol and has been on the injured list since June 14. He is expected to return shortly. 

OF Andy Pages (9) tore his labrum in his left shoulder on a swing on May 16 and had season-ending surgery. He will return in 2024. 

Jesus Galiz is in concussion protocol and has been on the injured list since June 13. He is expected to return shortly.

RHPs Carlos Duran and Edgardo Henriquez had Tommy John surgery after last season and will be out until 2024.

Giants

OF Heliot Ramos (20) is on the 60-day injured list with a right oblique strain. The 23-year-old got 26 at-bats in the big leagues this season.

OF Jairo Pomares (21) has been on the injured list since Opening Day with a quad strain suffered in spring training. He is currently playing in rehab games in the Arizona Complex League.

RHP Will Bednar (28) has missed the entire season with a stress reaction in his lower back. He is rehabbing at the team’s complex in Arizona.

RHP RJ Dabovich was placed on the injured list on April 14 with an impingement in his right hip. He was transferred to the full-season IL on June 16.  

RHP Carson Ragsdale looked excellent early at High-A Eugene but landed on the injured list with right forearm soreness on May 30. He should be back in roughly 3-4 weeks. 

Guardians

RHP Daniel Espino (2) had surgery to repair his anterior capsule in his right shoulder in April and will miss the season. 

OF George Valera (5) has been on the injured list twice this season. He missed the start of the season with wrist injury, came back for a week, and then returned to the IL with a hamstring injury. He returned from his second IL stint on June 17 and is back at Triple-A Columbus. 

OF Chase DeLauter (7), Cleveland’s first-round pick in 2022, has been on the injured list since Opening Day with a broken toe on his left foot that required surgery. He is currently playing in rehab games in the Arizona Complex League.

RHP Justin Campbell (16), the Guardians’ supplemental first-round pick in 2022, had right elbow surgery and will be out a couple of months. 

Mariners

1B Tyler Locklear (6) broke his right hamate bone when he was hit by a pitch on June 1. He will be out until at least early August.

RHP Taylor Dollard (8) has been on the injured list with a shoulder impingement since April 26. He is tentatively scheduled to return in mid-July. 

SS Felnin Celesten (12) suffered a grade 2 hamstring strain in an intrasquad game on June 1. He will be out until at least mid-July.

Marlins

RHP Max Meyer (2) is progressing in his rehab from last year’s Tommy John surgery. He is not likely to be full-go until October, leaving the possibility of an Arizona Fall League appearance on the table.  

LHP Jake Eder (3) completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery but missed the first two months of the season with a hairline fracture in his left foot. He returned to game action with Low-A Jupiter on June 4 and has made three appearances.

LHP Dax Fulton (7) suffered a left elbow injury and will have surgery to insert an internal brace. He will miss the rest of the season.

RHP Sixto Sanchez (14), who has not pitched in an official game since debuting in 2020, had another setback after having shoulder surgery last October. The Marlins hope he can get back on the mound by the end of the season.

LHP Josh Simpson has missed the entire season with an impingement in his left shoulder. He is currently rehabbing at the team’s spring training complex in Jupiter, Fla.

RHP Zach McCambley is recovering from elbow inflammation and should return at some point this summer.

Mets

RHP Calvin Ziegler (10) had trouble with his range of motion in his pitching arm during spring training. He needed surgery to remove bone spurs from his elbow. He’s expected to get back on the mound in July.

RHP Raimon Gomez (15) blew out his elbow three starts into the season and needed Tommy John surgery. He will be sidelined until 2024.

Nationals

RHP Cade Cavalli (5) had Tommy John surgery in March and will miss the season. He is currently rehabbing at the Nationals facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. He recently traveled with the team from Florida to Washington for a series, which manager Davey Martinez said was to remind the pitcher that he is still a major part of their plans moving forward.   

RHP Zach Brzykcy (20) had Tommy John surgery and will miss the season. He will return in 2024.

LHP Matt Cronin (25) has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury since late May. His velocity was down all season compared to previous years. 

Orioles

OF Kyle Stowers (12) has been on the injured list since May 23 with shoulder inflammation. 

RHP Seth Johnson (17) had Tommy John surgery last summer and is unlikely to pitch in 2023. 

Padres

RHP Dylan Lesko (3) completed his rehab from last year’s Tommy John surgery and made his first professional start June 20 in the Arizona Complex League. The Padres hope to send him to Low-A Lake Elsinore in the coming weeks.

2B Nerwilian Cedeno (12) injured his right wrist making a play in the field on April 12 and has been on the injured list since April 15. He is hitting at the Padres’ complex in Arizona and is slated to begin a rehab assignment shortly.

OF Korry Howell (15) injured his shoulder making a diving catch and has been on the injured list since May 31. He is slated to return in a couple of weeks. 

LHP Noel Vela (19) has been on the injured list since Opening Day with a bone spur in his left elbow. He made his first rehab appearance in the Arizona Complex League on June 20.

RHP Garrett Hawkins (22) has been on the injured list with a lat strain since May 9. He has yet to get back on a mound and does not have a set timeline to return.

RHP Isaiah Lowe (24) has been on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation since May 5. He still has to build back up and does not have a set timetable to return.

Phillies

RHP Andrew Painter (1) has yet to pitch this season due to a sprained UCL in his right elbow. He threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on June 20 but remains 1-2 months from returning to game action.

RHPs Christian McGowan (16) and Micah Ottenbreit (18) have progressed well in their rehab processes from Tommy John surgery. Both pitchers are expected to make a return to game action in July.

Caleb Ricketts (19) went on the seven-day injured list June 4 with an undisclosed injury.

RHP Jaydenn Estanista (24) was placed on the seven-day injured list June 7 with an undisclosed injury.

RHP Noah Song (30) is on the 60-day injured list with a lower back strain.

Pirates

RHP Michael Burrows (20) had Tommy John surgery in late April and will be out until next season. 

Rangers

None

Rays

RHP Shane Baz (3) is continuing to recover from his 2022 Tommy John surgery. He is not expected to return until 2024.

2B/3B Curtis Mead (4) is just getting back on the field after a wrist injury sidelined him for nearly two months. He’s currently rehabbing in the Florida Complex League.

RHP Colby White (22) has returned to the mound as he works back from last year’s Tommy John surgery. He’s shown his pre-injury arm speed and velocity, but his control has been shaky in his first few outings in the Florida Complex League.

RHP Evan Reifert (29) has yet to pitch this season due to shoulder inflammation.

Red Sox

OF Miguel Bleis (2) suffered a left shoulder subluxation that will require season-ending surgery. He dealt with multiple shoulder issues this year before suffering a final injury on a swing May 31. He will return in 2024.

SS Mikey Romero (6) has missed the entire season with back stiffness. He is expected to return and play in rehab games in the Florida Complex League later this month. 

RHP Bryan Mata (23) has been on the injured list since May 10 with right shoulder inflammation. He began a throwing program this week.

Reds

Alfredo Duno (13) has been limited to hitting only as he nurses a sore right arm. The expectation is that he’ll be able to catch at some point during the Dominican Summer League season.

SS Leonardo Balcazar (16) is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

OF Jay Allen (23) has missed most of the season with a thumb ligament injury. The hope is that he can return to action in July.

Rockies

OF Zac Veen (3) had season-ending surgery on Thursday to repair tearing and fraying in a ligament in his left hand. He will return in 2024. 

3B Warming Bernabel (10) has been on the injured list since May 26 with back spasms.  

Royals

LHP Angel Zerpa (14) missed the first two months of the season with a shoulder injury but returned to action with Double-A Northwest Arkansas on June 15.

OF Diego Hernandez (16) missed the first two months after suffering a dislocated shoulder in Kansas City’s second spring training game. He began a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Wednesday.

LHP Asa Lacy (21) has yet to appear in a game this season as he continues to rehab from the back troubles that hampered him last season. 

Tigers

RHP Jackson Jobe (3) missed the first two months of the season with a lumbar spine inflammation in his lower back. He made his first start for High-A Lakeland on Thursday and sat 97 mph on his fastball.

RHP Freddy Pacheco (22) will miss the entire season after having Tommy John surgery, which is part of the reason the Tigers were able to claim him off waivers from the Cardinals.

Twins

LHP Connor Prielipp (5) missed two months with left elbow inflammation and forearm discomfort. He made his first rehab appearance in the Florida Complex League on June 9.

2B/OF Austin Martin (11) missed the first two months of the season with a sprained elbow ligament. He made his first appearance of the season on June 5 and is rehabbing at High-A Fort Myers.

White Sox

SS Colson Montgomery (1) missed the first two and a half months of the season with a mid-back strain. He began playing rehab games in the Arizona Complex League on June 20.

3B Bryan Ramos (2) missed the first seven weeks of the season with a groin injury. He returned to Double-A Birmingham on May 30.

LHP Noah Schultz (4) missed the first two months of the season with a flexor strain. He returned to make his pro debut on June 2 for Low-A Kannapolis and is now pitching regularly in the rotation.

RHP Norge Vera (18) made just two brief appearances at High-A Winston-Salem before suffering a lower back strain. He is currently rehabbing at the White Sox’s complex in Arizona. 

Yankees

C Engelth Ureña (24), RHP Trystan Vrieling and RHP Carson Coleman are out indefinitely with undisclosed injuries. 

OF Everson Pereira (4) has not played since May 30 with an undisclosed injury.

RHP Luis Serna is dealing with right shoulder soreness and has not pitched this season.
