Newsmakers from Monday’s action:

Mitch Keller, RHP, Pirates. Survey scouts as to who is the best pitching prospect in the game right now and you’ll get a lot of arguments for Walker Buehler because of his top-of-the-scale stuff. Michael Kopech also had a case thanks to his improved control and Brent Honeywell is the most big league ready of all the elite pitching prospects. But Keller has plenty of support as well thanks to his easy velocity, advanced control and feel for a breaking ball. Keller allowed only one hit in five scoreless innings yesterday, lowering his AFL ERA to 1.72.

Sheldon Neuse, SS, Athletics. Neuse hit his third home run of the AFL season (in 50 at-bats) and now has eight extra-base hits to post a .300/.364/.580 stat line.

Nicky Lopez, SS, Royals. Lopez is one of the better prospects in the Royals system thanks to a feel to hit and the defense to stay up the middle. His 2-for-4 day yesterday raised his average in the AFL to .375.
