2027 High School Draft Rankings: Top 100 Prospects To Know

With the calendar getting ready to flip over to a new year, Baseball America presents our latest updated ranking of the top 100 high school MLB Draft prospects in the 2027 class.
You can see the updated 2027 HS rankings here.
The No. 1 player in the class remains Dylan Seward, a switch-hitting shortstop from California who is committed to Tennessee. Seward has exceptional quick-twitch athleticism, outstanding tools, fluid actions at the plate and in the field, which he combines with high-level game acumen and a strong offensive performance record.
While there is the usual group of hitters toward the top of the rankings, the 2027 class skews more pitcher-heavy than most years. Given the risks associated with high school pitching, major league teams are typically cautious with the demographic compared to hitters. However, 20 of the top 50 ranked players are either pitchers only or primarily pitchers, plus several two-way players with potential on the mound. It’s a greater percentage of pitchers than we normally see at this stage, which is both a testament to the quality of 2027 pitching and an opportunity for hitters to rise if they take leaps forward in 2026.
