2025 Top MLB Draft Prospects

Baseball America’s draft rankings are an attempt to capture the industry’s consensus on the talent of the 2025 draft class. The list is compiled in consultation with MLB scouts, front office executives, scouting directors, college coaches and other professional evaluators. Ben Badler, Peter Flaherty, Tom Lipari, Bill Mitchell, Jacob Rudner and Carlos Collazo contributed to the reporting and writing of the list and reports.
With the college season just weeks away, we’re excited to update and expand our rankings for the 2025 draft class. While we’ve been reporting on the players in this class for multiple years at this stage, a February draft list is still very much in the early stages of the draft class.Â
The spring season for amateur players is critical and each year there’s plenty of movement on the draft board as players unlock new gears, sharpen skills, add physicality, get injured or regress.
This top 200 draft list represents something of a starting point. We’ll be updating and iterating this list monthly throughout the season as we work toward the eventual BA 500 in an effort to give you detailed, accurate and comprehensive draft coverage.
The class is led by a solid group of five players, with Texas A&M toolshed OF Jace LaViolette in the No. 1 spot and leading the college class and Oklahoma prep SS Ethan Holliday ranking No. 2 with a strong hit/power combination and headlining a deep class of high school bats. Arms round out the top five, including RHP Tyler Bremner, LHP Jamie Arnold and RHP Seth Hernandez.
The class overall is a deep group of players with no obvious demographic weakness or clear strengths, a strong West Coast bent and perhaps less impact talent at the top than scouts are hoping for. You can see how scouting directors grade the 2025 class here.
