2027 Top High School Draft Prospects

As we enter 2026, itās time to update our rankings of the top 100 high school players in the 2027 MLB Draft class.
The No. 1 player in the class remains Dylan Seward, a switch-hitting shortstop from California who is committed to Tennessee. Seward has exceptional quick-twitch athleticism, outstanding tools, fluid actions at the plate and in the field, which he combines with high-level game acumen and a strong offensive performance record.
Seward is a special talent at the top of the list. But while there is the usual group of hitters toward the top of the rankings, the 2027 class skews more pitcher-heavy than most years. Given the risks associated with high school pitching, major league teams are typically cautious with the demographic compared to hitters. However, 20 of the top 50 ranked players are either pitchers only or primarily pitchers, plus several two-way players with potential on the mound. Itās a greater percentage of pitchers than we normally see at this stage, which is both a testament to the quality of 2027 pitching and an opportunity for hitters to rise if they take leaps forward in 2026.
On the college recruiting side, LSU and Tennessee lead the way. LSU has 12 recruits ranked in the top 100, with Tennessee next at 10. Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi State all have classes stacked with commits ranked in the top 100, too.
Since coaches were allowed to officially contact players on Aug. 1, 2025, offers and commitments have come fast. Fewer than 10 uncommitted players still remain among the top 100, though flips and late risers are always part of the cycle.
Below, Baseball America subscribers can find the top 100 prospects in the 2027 class, featuring scouting reports on every player.
