Mariners’ Logan Evans Spins His Best Start

Double-A Arkansas righthander Logan Evans (Mariners) was one of the breakout names to know from spring training, and Seattle responded by sending him on an aggressive assignment to the Texas League. Evans has handled that jump with no issues, but the one surprising development was how few strikeouts he was piling up. Evans had struck out two or fewer batters in four of his first five starts. That wasn’t a problem on Saturday. He struck out nine while holding San Antonio to one hit and one hit batter while walking no one in six shutout innings. Evans’ 1.57 ERA leads the Texas League and he’s holding opponents to a .186 batting average.
