Newsmakers from Monday’s action:

Albert Abreu, RHP, Yankees. The Braves may have the best group of pitching prospects in the minors because they have a large group of nearly big league ready starting pitching prospects. But a pretty strong case can be made that the Yankees have a deeper group of pitching prospects, as they can field wave after wave of hard-throwing starters and relievers. Abreu is one of their better prospects, as he showed again on Monday with five scoreless innings in the Arizona Fall League. He lowered his AFL ERA to 2.60. Our Kyle Glaser wrote more about Abreu’s start.

Thairo Estrada, SS, Yankees. Speaking of Yankees’ prospects, Estrada keeps impressing with his solid bat-to-ball skills. He tripled yesterday and is now hitting .352 in the AFL.

Will Smith, C, Dodgers. Between Keibert Ruiz and Smith, the Dodgers have one of the better catching situations in the minors. Smith has made up for missed time from the 2017 season by hitting .362/.449/.517 in the AFL. The former Louisville star is very athletic for a catcher.
