2023 College Baseball Freshman All-American Teams

Charlie Condon is Baseball America’s 2023 Freshman of the Year. Condon hit .386/.484/.800 with 25 home runs in 56 games for Georgia. He led all freshmen in OPS (1.284) and slugging, while tying for the most home runs among freshmen.
Condon highlights the Freshman All-America teams. He is joined by Clemson outfielder Cam Cannarella, the ACC freshman of the year, and Stanford catcher Malcolm Moore, the Pac-12 freshman of the year.
TCU placed two players on the first team and had three honorees in total, leading all teams in both categories. Northeastern was the only other team with more than one player honored.
The staff of Baseball America selected the Freshman All-America Teams.
First Team
C Malcolm Moore, Stanford: Batted .311/.386/.564 with 15 home runs while catching 55 games to help lead the Cardinal to the College World Series.
1B Anthony Martinez, UC Irvine: Batted .394/.471/.619 with 11 home runs and was named Big West freshman field player of the year.
2B Blake Cyr, Miami: Batted .306/.428/.628 with 17 home runs and was named all-ACC.
3B Kevin Bazzell, Texas Tech: Batted .348/.452/.572 with 24 doubles and 10 home runs and earned first-team all-Big 12 honors.
SS Anthony Silva, TCU: Immediately took over as the Horned Frogs’ starting shortstop and helped lead the team to the College World Series while batting .330/.416/.471 with 17 stolen bases.
OF Cam Cannarella, Clemson: Batted .388/.462/.560 with 24 stolen bases and was named ACC freshman of the year.
OF Charlie Condon, Georgia: Batted .386/.484/.800 with 25 home runs, leading all freshmen in OPS (1.284) and slugging, and was named SEC freshman of the year.
OF Ethan Petry, South Carolina: Batted .376/.471/.733 with 23 home runs and was named first-team all-SEC.
DH Austin Overn, Southern California: Led the nation with 14 triples and batted .314/.402/.530 with 16 stolen bases to earn all-Pac-12 honors.
SP Jacob Mayers, Nicholls State: Went 9-1, 2.02 with 105 strikeouts in 75.2 innings and was named Southland Conference freshman of the year after helping the Colonels to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.
SP Evan Chrest, Jacksonville: Went 8-2, 2.86 with 98 strikeouts in 90.2 innings and was named ASUN Conference freshman of the year.
SP Kole Klecker, TCU: Emerged as the Horned Frogs’ top starter, helping them to Omaha and going 10-4, 3.72 with 72 strikeouts in 96.2 innings.
SP Dominic Fritton, North Carolina State: Pitched as a swing-man for the Wolfpack and went 3-4, 3.59 with 75 strikeouts in 62.2 innings.
RP Hudson Barrett, UC Santa Barbara: Emerged as the Gauchos’ bullpen ace, going 5-1, 1.92 with 82 strikeouts and six saves in 61 innings to be named Big West freshman pitcher of the year.
RP James Tallon, Duke: Took over as the Blue Devils’ closer and went 1-1, 1.64 with 12 saves and 54 strikeouts in 33 innings, earning all-ACC honors.
UT DJ Newman, Bowling Green State: Was named Mid-American Conference freshman pitcher of the year after going 3-2, 3.49 on the mound, while also batting .381/.481/.495 with nine stolen bases.
