  Track Record: Lopez was a part of Miami’s 2023 international free agent class, alongside outfielder Andres Valor, and signed for $650,000. The switch-hitting shortstop made a strong first impression in the Dominican Summer League and hit .265/.327/.405 with 12 doubles, four home runs, 22 RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 49 games.
  
  Scouting Report: Lopez has two distinct looks in the box. From the left side, he has an open front side with a somewhat high handset and his bat completely horizontal above his back shoulder. He takes a small stride and rotates well in his swing with solid leverage to the pull side. From the right side, Lopez’s front side is a bit more closed off with his bat more vertical in his stance. He has shown the ability to impact the baseball, especially from the left side, and has strong bat-to-ball skills given his 83% in-zone contact rate. As he continues to age and mature physically, Lopez projects to add impact from both sides. Lopez is a plus defender at shortstop, where he has quick feet, athletic actions and an above-average internal clock. He is comfortable going up the middle and to the backhand side and has a plus arm. Lopez is a safe bet to stick at the position and has the makings of an everyday shortstop. He is also an above-average runner and effective basestealer--another reason why his fingerprints are regularly all over the box score.
  
  The Future: Lopez is likely to start the 2024 season in the Florida Complex League before earning a promotion to Low-A Jupiter. He is unlikely to make his big league debut before the 2027 or 2028 season, but he could be the club’s shortstop of the future.
