By and large, the best prospects in the sport will all be in attendance for the Spring Breakout series, a four-day event designed to pit each organization’s best young talent against one other at Grapefruit and Cactus League sites.

There will be some notable absences however, largely among players who are vying for spots on their teams’ big league rosters.

The most prominent prospects missing from the event come from the Texas system, where neither Evan Carter nor Wyatt Langford are on the Rangers’ roster. Carter, of course, became a household name during his team’s run to the World Series. Langford is on the verge of the big leagues, too, after a standout run through the minor leagues after being selected in the first round of the 2023 draft.

The other member of the Top 10 prospects who will not be in Spring Breakout is Rays slugger Junior Caminero, who swatted 30 home runs in the minor leagues before adding his first big league blast in September.

Some of the other notable prospects not on rosters are those dealing with long-term injuries. Phillies No. 1 prospect Andrew Painter will miss the whole season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, and Yankees prospect Jasson Dominguez is also in the later stages of his own elbow reconstruction recovery. Mets prospect Ronny Mauricio is on the shelf as well after having knee surgery to repair an injury suffered in winter ball.
