One way or another, it sure feels like Owen Caissie is forcing the Cubs’ hand. The 23-year-old outfielder went 5-for-5 with a homer and two doubles on Tuesday for Triple-A Iowa, continuing what has been an incredible run for the No. 56 prospect in baseball. Since June 1, Caissie is hitting .339/.436/.740 with 13 homers in 34 games. Even his strikeouts, which have long been a concern, are in a more manageable 25.5% clip during that stretch. There’s no obvious path to everyday at-bats in Chicago right now for Caissie who, as a result, is one of the most fascinating prospects at this year’s trade deadline, especially if the first-place Cubs get aggressive over the next week. Caissie has now played 204 games in Triple-A over the last two seasons and is hitting .279/.378/.514 with 39 homers at the level.
