Prospect Report: Yankees Prospects Extend Somerset's Season

Jasson Dominguez, OF, Yankees: After leaving Low-A, Dominguez has hit another gear. The teenager put together an outstanding 40-game stretch at High-A Hudson Valley before its season ended. The Yankees then moved Dominguez to Double-A Somerset for the team's final regular season week and then the postseason.

On Tuesday, with the Patriots down a game to Erie in the best-of-three Eastern League Championship Series, Dominguez launched a home run to dead center field in the second inning of his team's eventual series-tying and season-saving win. The blast was part of a 2-for-5 night.

Austin Wells, C, Yankees: Wells was drafted in 2020 with the profile of a bat-first catcher. He's lived up to that billing this season. The Arizona alum went deep in Somerset's win as part of a 2-for-3 night with three runs, three RBIs, a walk and a stolen base. In four postseason games, Wells is 6-for-16 with two doubles, the home run and eight RBIs.

Evan Carter, OF, Rangers: Carter's season just keeps getting better. The 20-year-old showed an outstanding blend of hittability, strike zone discipline, speed and defense in a season spent at High-A Hickory before a promotion to Double-A Frisco just before the team's attempt at the Texas League playoffs. On Tuesday, Carter helped the RoughRiders win a championship. The center fielder collected three hits as his team swept Wichita in the TLCS.

The deciding game went to extra innings, and Carter's single in the 10th inning plated Frisco's sixth and seventh runs, which amounted at the time to a four-run cushion heading into the bottom of the frame. Carter's insurance proved crucial when Wichita struck for two runs of its own before final out was recorded.

Owen White, RHP, Rangers: In his second playoff appearance after his regular season ended in July, White was outstanding. The righthander, who was one of the breakout performers in the Arizona Fall League last year, tossed two dynamic scoreless innings. He faced six hitters and struck them all out. Eighteen of his 30 pitches were strikes, including eight swings and misses.

Triston Casas, 1B, Red Sox: The Red Sox's No. 3 prospect collected the first three-hit game of his big league career in the team's win over the Orioles. Casas hit a two-run homer, his fifth, and raised his OPS to .789.

Adley Rutschman, C, Orioles: Rutschman crushed his 13th home run of the season to add to his Rookie of the Year case. The 24-year-old leads all rookies in doubles (32) and ranks third in walks (59) and fourth in on-base percentage (.359).

Taj Bradley, RHP, Rays: After making quick work of Double-A this season, Bradley initially struggled at the Triple-A level, but he ended the season on a strong note in September. The 21-year-old righthander posted a 2.48 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in five starts this month, with 25 strikeouts compared to five walks. In his last start of the season on Tuesday he pitched six one-run innings to pick up his seventh win across two levels.

Alexander Canario, OF, Cubs: The 22-year-old outfielder hit another home run on Tuesday, his 36th of the season, to move into a tie for second place among minor league hitters. After starting the season at High-A South Bend, Canario jumped all the way to Triple-A and looks primed to make his major league debut next season thanks to his plus-plus raw power.
