Reds Ariel Almonte Widens His FSL Home Run Lead

Low-A Daytona outfielder Ariel Almonte’s batting average is a still grim .224, but his power production has dragged his overall stat line to respectability. Almonte hit two home runs on Saturday, giving him six in the past eight games. Almonte is now hitting .224/.357/.621. It’s remarkable power production for the Florida State League, where power is usually muted. His seven home runs are more than double that of anyone else in the Florida State League. In fact, his four home runs this week would be enough to lead the league, as no one else has more than three. No one has topped 20 home runs in a season in the Florida State League since the minors were reorganized in 2021.
