Mets’ Brandon Sproat Moves To Double-A

The Mets liked righthander Brandon Sproat so much that they drafted him twice, first as an unsigned third-rounder in 2022 and then in the second round last year. The former Florida Gator is now on his way to Double-A Binghamton after striking out eight batters in each of his past two starts for High-A Brooklyn. As a 23-year-old who pitched four seasons in the Southeastern Conference, Sproat dominated High-A hitters, striking out 32% while recording a 1.07 ERA. His repertoire and athleticism scream “starter,” but after walking nearly 16% of South Atlantic League batters, he needs to work ahead of opposing batters more frequently.
