Rainer Nunez, 1B, FCL Blue Jays — It would be hard to have a better day than the one Nunez had for the Blue Jays Florida Complex League club on Monday. He had five hits, but missed out on the cycle because instead of hitting a triple, he had to settle for two singles, a double and two home runs. Nunez, a 20-year-old who signed with the Blue Jays in 2017, played third base early in his career but now is exclusively playing first base. That means he’s going to have to mash, and on Monday, that’s what he did.

Osiris Johnson, CF, FCL Marlins — Johnson did not hit in Low-A in 2018, and then missed all of 2019 because of a stress fracture in his leg. Sent back to Lo-A again in 2021, Johnson once again did not hit. He was demoted after posting a sub-.450 OPS for Jupiter. But he’s also too good for the Florida Complex League it appears. Johnson hit three home runs on Monday and had four hits overall.

Curtis Terry, 1B, Triple-A Round Rock (Rangers) — Within the Baseball America office, we’ve halfway seriously named the Tuesday Prospect Reports the Curtis Terry report. With the full season minors off on Mondays with the exception of the Triple-A West, it’s been Terry who seems to do something nearly every Monday worthy of BAPR inclusion. He’s back again. Terry doubled and hit his 17th home run of the season against Sacramento yesterday. He is once again third in Triple-A West in home runs. And yes, he loves Mondays. He is hitting .310/.396/.714 on Mondays this year.

Jesus Luzardo, LHP, Triple-A Las Vegas (Athletics) — Luzardo put together his best outing of the season last night, holding El Paso to two runs (one earned) in six innings of work. That’s the good news. The bad news is that only lowered his Triple-A ERA to 6.75 as he’d given up seven earned runs in two of his previous three starts.

Vimael Machin, 3B, Triple-A Las Vegas (Athletics) — Machin homered twice on Monday. Before this year Machin had never had a multi-homer game. This year he has two of them for Triple-A Las Vegas.

Deyvison De Los Santos, 3B, ACL D-Backs — The 18-year-old De Los Santos homered twice and drove in five runs while going 3-for-5 in the Arizona Complex League D-Backs’ loss to the ACL Cubs. De Los Santos now has five home runs in just 15 ACL games.

Aeverson Arteaga, SS, ACL Giants — Keep an eye on another young Giants shortstop prospect. Arteaga, 18, homered twice and also doubled in ACL Giants Orange’s loss to the ACL Rockies. Arteaga leads the ACL with six home runs and is hitting .400/.476/.836 so far.

Giants' Aeverson Arteaga Is More Than A Slick Defender

An outstanding glove makes Aeverson Arteaga one of the more promising shortstop prospects at the lower levels. The next step will be focusing his offensive approach.
