Baseball America Prospect Report—April 8, 2021

Atlanta Braves

—No. 12 prospect Huascar Ynoa pitched five innings for the first time in 13 career appearances, blanking the Nationals over that span. The 22-year-old righthander struck out five and allowed two hits and a walk while mostly relying on his slider. He got 12 swings and misses with the pitch and topped out at 99 mph on his fastball.

Boston Red Sox

—No. 3 prospect Bobby Dalbec singled twice in four at-bats in the team’s win over the Rays. Dalbec broke an 0-for-10 skid to start the season with his first single in the third inning.

Chicago White Sox

—No. 29 prospect Zack Collins turned in his second straight multi-RBI day in the team’s loss to the Mariners. Collins drove in two runs in the fifth inning on a single that left the bat at 91.7 mph. The 26-year-old is 4-for-16 with a home run and five RBIs.

 

Cincinnati Reds

—No. 3 prospect Jonathan India added to his already-impressive week, driving in two runs with a single and another with a sacrifice fly in the team’s win over the Pirates. The 24-year-old second baseman is 5-for-10 with eight RBIs in his last three games, all wins.

Detroit Tigers

—No. 14 prospect Akil Baddoo crushed his first triple in the team’s loss to the Twins. The 22-year-old outfielder has enjoyed facing the team that left him unprotected for the Rule 5 draft, with four hits in eight at-bats, a home run and six RBIs.

Philadelphia Phillies

—No. 24 prospect Connor Brogdon picked up his third win in as many appearances against the Mets. The 26-year-old righthander struck out two and allowed two hits and a walk in 1.2 innings while averaging 95.7 mph on his fastball and inducing five swings and misses with the pitch.

St. Louis Cardinals

—No. 1 prospect Dylan Carlson crushed the first grand slam of his career in the ninth inning in the team’s win over the Marlins. Carlson connected with the ball at 102.2 mph off the bat and it traveled 409 feet. The 22-year-old outfielder is 3-for-19 with three home runs and nine RBIs this season.

 

 

 

Tampa Bay Rays

—No. 2 prospect Randy Arozarena smoked a double that left the bat at 112.6 mph in the team’s loss to the Red Sox. The 26-year-old outfielder is riding a five-game hitting streak to start the season, with six hits in 20 at-bats (.300).
