Baseball America Prospect Report -- April 25, 2019

Alex Faedo, RHP, Tigers. Faedo tossed seven hitless innings of a combined no-hitter for Double-A Erie. The righthander was in cruise control, striking out five and walking one. Faedo really struggled last season, largely because his velocity had dipped. This year his velocity has ticked back up to 91-94 mph and he's reaping the results. Faedo now has a 26-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Jake Fraley OF, Mariners. The Mariners' No. 15 prospect had three hits including a double and home run for Double-A Arkansas. This season will be important for Fraley, as he needs to prove a clean bill of health after suffering from a knee injury in 2017 and a foot injury in 2018. Known for his bat-to-ball ability and plus speed, Fraley profiles as a fourth outfielder.

Pavin Smith, 1B, Diamondbacks. Smith had a three-hit night with three RBI for Double-A Jackson. He set the tone for his night early, smacking a two-run home run to right center field. The Diamondbacks' No. 17 prospect has good knowledge of the strike zone but needs to work on translating his plus raw power into games. He's doing a better job of that this year. After hitting 11 home runs and slugging .392 last year, he's hit four home runs and is slugging .554 this year.

Ronnie Dawson, OF, Astros. Dawson had an immediate impact for Double-A Corpus Christi, blasting a home run in the first inning and another one in the second inning. While Dawson does have above-average power and a more pull-oriented approach, he will need to continue working on his swing in order to make consistent hard contact. The Astros' No. 13 prospect is now batting .233/.333/.493.

Oscar De La Cruz, RHP, Cubs. De La Cruz threw six innings for high Class A Myrtle Beach, allowing one earned run on five hits. The righthander collected eight strike outs before making his exit. While Chicago's No. 21 prospect throws a low-90s fastball and two different breaking pitches, 2019 will be interesting as it will be his return to the mound after serving an 80-game suspension that started midseason of last year.

Deivi Garcia, RHP, Yankees. The Yankees' No. 6 prospect tossed five and two thirds innings for high Class A Tampa, surrendering one earned run. The righthander walked one and racked up 10 strike outs. While he has a three-pitch mix, Garcia mostly attacks hitters with a low-90s fastball and power curveball. His high-effort delivery raises the question of whether he will be destined for the bullpen in the future.

Hendrik Clementina, C, Reds. Clementina had a three-hit game for high Class A Daytona, blasting a two-run home run in the fourth inning. The Reds' No. 21 prospect shows plus-plus raw power and should be able to reach the 15-20 home run range as he matures. Clementina is off to a slow start so far, hitting just .205/.222/.318 with three extra-base hits in 44 at-bats.

Adam Hall, SS, Orioles. Hall had five hits in six at-bats for low Class A Delmarva. All five hits were singles and Hall came around to score four times. The Orioles' No. 18 prospect has made steady improvements on defense and is making the most of an average hit tool.

Jordan Groshans, SS, Blue Jays. Groshans is continuing his hot start, lacing three hits for low Class A Lansing. He hit a two-run home run to left field in the third inning. Groshans is now batting .387/.465/.581 with eight extra-base hits in 62 at-bats. The Jays' No. 5 prospect has an advanced hitting approach with power and the defensive skills to stick on the left side of the infield, even though his profile may best be suited for third base in the future.

Austin Dean, OF, Marlins. Dean had a three-hit night for Triple-A New Orleans, capping things off with a three-run home run to center field in the tenth inning. The Marlins' No. 27 prospect profile more as a bat off the bench and is an average defender in left field. He is now batting .405/.488/.649 with five extra-base hits in 37 at-bats.

Chris Paddack, RHP, Padres. The changeup artist spun a gem for the Padres, going seven innings with nine strikeouts in a 1-0 victory over the Mariners. He gave up one hit and also walked a batter. The Padres' No. 6 prospect has pitched to a 1.67 ERA across 27 innings while scattering just 10 hits.

Trade Central: Blue Jays Trade Jordan Groshans For Relievers Zach Pop and Anthony Bass

In a move meant to fortify the Blue Jays bullpen, the team acquired relievers Zach Pop and Anthony Bass from Miami in exchange for prospect Jordan Groshans.
