Track Record: Brito has been a reliable minor league hitter for years, and after a strong full-season in Triple-A in 2024 was a popular breakout pick who had a chance to impact Cleveland’s major league team. Brito struggled in spring training, then played just 31 games because of a string of injuries including thumb and hamstring injuries that both required surgery.
Scouting Report: Brito is a 6-foot, 202-pound switch-hitter who, when at his best, shows a solid blend of contact, patience and pop. Without elite bat speed, Brito needs to be dialed into his swing decisions and timing, and when he was on the field in 2025 he regressed in both those areas—causing some regression across the board in his batted-ball inputs. His aggressiveness was perhaps the most striking difference in 2025, and Brito both swung more frequently and expanded the zone more frequently against a variety of pitch types. There’s an expectation that he’ll get back to his typical self with a healthy 2026 season. Brito is a primary second baseman, and that’s his best spot defensively. He’s a fringy runner with solid hands and average arm strength. It’s likely that he gets more exposure to other positions including outfield, first base and third base to create more opportunities for him to contribute in the lineup.
The Future: The 2025 season was essentially a lost one for Brito. He missed his opportunity to claim the team’s second base job, and now top prospect Travis Bazzana is in a position to claim it for himself. Playing off the keystone puts more pressure on Brito’s bat, and that could make him more of a backup or platoon type for the Guardians.

Track Record: Brito signed with the Rockies out of the Dominican Republic in 2018, and the Guardians acquired him in a 2022 trade that sent Nolan Jones to Colorado. Since then, all Brito has done is hit. He went from High-A to Triple-A in 2023 then spent the entire 2024 season with Triple-A Columbus where he slashed .256/.365/.443 and was one of just two minor leaguers with at least 20 homers and 40 doubles—along with Athletics outfielder Colby Thomas.
Scouting Report: Brito is a 6-foot-1, 207-pound switch-hitter and infielder who has a solid blend of contact skills, approach and power. Over five minor league seasons, he is a .275/.384/.450 hitter with a 14.1% walk rate and 15.4% strikeout rate. He makes pitchers work to get him out, doesn’t expand the zone much and has added more power as he’s gotten into his 20s, though most of that power goes to his pull side when he’s batting lefthanded. Changeups were a bit of a bugaboo for Brito in 2024—his 30% miss rate against the pitch was higher than fastballs and breaking balls—but otherwise he has a fairly well-rounded and proven offensive game. Brito is just a fringe-average runner whose range is a bit short in the field. He primarily played second base in 2024 but also logged innings at first base, third base, right field and shortstop. Brito has some looseness to his actions in the field at times, but is best suited for the keystone, where his average arm strength plays fine, or the hot corner, where his range isn’t as much of a limiting factor.
The Future: Brito is ready for a big league opportunity but doesn’t have an everyday role with Cleveland because Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez are locked into his best positions. He could serve as a utility bench bat but might have more value to another team in a starting role.

Track Record: Brito was an unheralded signing out of the Dominican Republic by the Rockies in 2018. He’s come on strong since, and the Guardians in November 2022 acquired him for Nolan Jones and immediately added him to the 40-man roster. Brito rewarded his new organization in 2023, as he shot through three levels of the minor leagues to reach Triple-A Columbus in September, just a few days before turning 22.
Scouting Report: Brito fits in well with Cleveland’s cadre of young middle infielders. He is a disciplined, patient hitter with good bat-to-ball skills. He has walked about as much as he’s struck out over his professional career and has a low chase rate. While he has a contact-oriented approach, the switch-hitter has average power potential. Brito’s swing has natural lift, and as he gets stronger he could grow into even more pop. He’s already showing it in games. His 31 doubles and 46 extra-base hits in 2023 ranked second and third among Cleveland’s minor leaguers, and his .817 OPS ranked third among qualified Eastern League hitters. Brito is an average runner and is aggressive on the bases. He has primarily played second base as a professional and his average athleticism makes him a solid defender at the position. He saw time at both shortstop and third base in 2023 as well, and the Guardians believe his arm strength and range play on the left side of the infield.
The Future: Brito will return to Columbus to open 2024 and could make his MLB debut later in the season. From there, things are less clear. The Cleveland infield is crowded. Third baseman Jose Ramirez and second baseman Andres Gimenez have long-term deals. Brito is among the best of the Guardians’ infielders pushing through the upper minors and gives the organization another high-upside player.

Track Record: Brito was an unheralded signing out of the Dominican Republic in 2018 by the Rockies. He's come on strong in the years since and made his full-season debut in 2022. In November he was traded to the Guardians in exchange for Nolan Jones and immediately was added to the 40-man roster.
Scouting Report: Brito fits in well with Cleveland's cadre of young middle infielders. He is a disciplined, patient hitter with good bat-to-ball skills. He has walked more than he's struck out over his professional career and in 2022 had just a 22% chase rate. While he has a contact-oriented approach, the switch-hitter has at least fringy power potential. He showed off doubles power with low Class A Fresno and ranked fourth in the California League with 29 doubles. His swing has natural lift to it and as he gets stronger, he should grow into more pop. He's an average runner and is aggressive on the base paths. Brito has primarily played second base as a professional and his average athleticism makes him a solid defender at the position. The Guardians believe he has the arm strength and range to see time on the left side of the infield as well, but his long-term position still projects to be second base.
The Future: Brito will make his organizational debut as a 21-year-old and he'll likely head to high Class A Lake County. His addition to the 40-man roster means that his developmental timeline is now facing a harder clock, but he gives the Guardians yet another high-upside middle infielder in their system.

Track Record: Signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2018, Brito debuted stateside in the Arizona Complex League last summer where he hit .295/.406/.432 with three home runs. He was assigned to Low-A Fresno out of spring training.
Scouting Report: A shorter switch-hitting second baseman with a broad shouldered and boxy build that's fairly filled out, Brito shows average or better bat-to-ball skills from both sides of the plate but a far more power-driven approach lefthanded, where he shows the ability to backspin balls off the barrel and elevate consistently. He's just an average runner and athlete and is best suited for second base defensively. His game long term is predicated on the development of his bat. He does show a good balance of contact, on base ability and average game power from which to build off of.
The Future: Brito is a bat-first second baseman who's showing on-base ability, contact and projectable power as a 20-year-old in full-season ball. While second base only is a limiting profile, Brito has the right blend of offense and enough athleticism and infield actions to remain in the infield.
