Gonzalez may be in high school, but his stature is that of a powerfully-built man. The chiseled 6-foot-2, 205-pound infielder has long been considered one of the best power prospects of his age, culminating in his appearance in the 2016 High School Home Run Derby. The physical Gonzalez has bat speed but his timing and rhythm are not always sharp. As a result, he can overswing and get into nasty slumps, as he did when he began his senior season 5-for-24 with zero homers and nine strikeouts. He still rebounded for an excellent year, however. When Gonzalez does make contact the ball jumps off his bat with authority, giving him plus power potential. Gonzalez played shortstop in high school but projects to third base with an above-average arm, smooth hands and solid footwork. He is a top-10 round talent but may drop to due to a strong Vanderbilt commitment.
