Organization Prospect Rankings
The second pick in the 2000 Rule 5 draft, Knight could become the Twins' No. 5 starter or take a spot in the bullpen. He's with his third organization in little more than a year, having been traded by the Rangers to the Yankees for Chad Curtis in December 1999. He throws strikes with all four of his pitches: a low-90s fastball, as well as a curveball, slider and changeup. Knight was more accomplished as a hitter in junior college, and it has taken him a while to learn the difference between throwing strikes and quality strikes. If he continues to make progress, Minnesota's Rule 5 gamble may pay off.
