Harkey is No. 1; scouts don’t question that. What they do question is his ability to win consistently. “Stuff-wise,” one scout said, “he’s as good as there is. But he’s missing that intangible of how to win. It seems like he finds a way to lose a close game every time. If something doesn’t go his way — an error or a bad call — he’s out of it. He’s almost like (Joaquin) Andujar that way.” Harkey drew 85 scouts to one early season game.
