In his fourth season as a pro, Pena finally made it to the U.S. after spending parts of three seasons in the Dominican Summer League. He still was one of the NWL's younger starters and stood out as the best arm on the Spokane team, edging projectable lefty Derek Thompson. Pena has impressive pitchability for his age and experience level, throwing strikes with an 89-92 mph fastball, solid-average changeup and inconsistent but at times average curveball. He's not afraid to pitch inside, and he limited lefthanders to a .487 OPS. A slender righty, Pena needs to build strength and stamina to make the jump to full-season ball next season.
