Pitchers may be able to get Marsee out, but they’ll waste a lot of time and pitches if they try to strike him out. The Central Michigan outfielder makes tons of contact and had a choosy, patient approach at the plate. He hit .345/.467/.550 in 2022 with seven home runs. He almost never expands his zone, waiting until he finds a pitch to serve up over the second baseman or shortstop’s head. He swung and missed at fastballs only 5% of the time this spring. Where that fits in pro ball is a little less clear, as Marsee does not lift and drive the ball much. His swing is about getting ground balls, flares and line drives sprayed around the field. For a corner outfielder with average speed, Marsee’s below-average power is a concern, even if it comes with a plus hit tool. Marsee has also impressed in the Northwoods League this summer, continuing to make tons of contact.
