View Draft Report
Steensma is a 6-foot-4, 245-pound righthander who pitched as a reliever for Appalachian State in 2023, then moved into a starting role in 2024. He was expected to be the team’s Friday night starter this spring, but missed the entire year with an injury. Steensma owns a career 4.10 ERA in 94.1 innings with App State, including a 26.7% strikeout rate and 9.4% walk rate. In 2024 Steensma sat around 93 mph and touched 96 with his fastball. He did an excellent job throwing the pitch for strikes, and also mixed in a mid-80s changeup, a mid-80s slider and a distinct upper-70s curveball.
