Age At Draft: 21.7
BA Grade: 45/High
Davis is a mountain of a pitcher with a 6-foot-9, 235-pound frame who has flashed huge arm talent throughout his Oklahoma State career. He’s never thrown more than 50 innings in a season and missed much of the 2024 fall after breaking his collarbone. He then pitched sporadically in 2025 and dealt with shoulder issues. Working mostly out of the bullpen this spring, Davis posted a 5.92 ERA in 24.1 innings with a 23.2% strikeout rate and 12.8% walk rate. At his best, Davis has shown stuff that warrants a selection in the first two rounds. He sits in the mid 90s with a high-spin heater that has been up to 100 mph and could play up thanks to his well above-average extension. His present command of the pitch could mitigate any extra value the pitch might get from his release traits, and he tends to be scattered and erratic in general. Davis throws a mid-80s slider that has plus potential with hard movement. He will also mix in a mid-80s changeup and an occasional curveball around 80 mph. Davis likely fits best in the bullpen where he can focus on his fastball/slider combination, but he’ll need to improve his control to pitch in high-leverage situations. He could fit somewhere between rounds 4-7 on draft day.

Track Record: Davis was the first pitcher the White Sox selected in 2025 when they took him in the fifth round out of Oklahoma State. He had the look of a Day 1 pick entering his draft year before shoulder issues limited him to just 24.1 relief innings. Chicago felt comfortable rolling the dice that it could get him healthy and signed him to a $587,500 bonus. Like every pitcher they drafted, Davis did not make his pro debut or appear in bridge league games.
Scouting Report: Davis’ enormous 6-foot-9, 235-pound frame stands out, as does his plus, high-spin heater that sits in the mid 90s and touches 100. It has a chance to play up even more because of his well above-average extension, though it presently plays down because he struggles with command. Davis’ strike-throwing is erratic across the board and he never walked less than 11.8% of hitters in college. Davis’ hard mid-80s slider has plus potential, and he’ll also mix in a mid-80s changeup and the occasional 80 mph curveball.
The Future: While the White Sox might try him as a starter, Davis likely fits better in a bullpen where he can air out his plus fastball-slider combination. He’ll need to first prove he can withstand a full year of pro ball after never pitching more than 50 innings in college.

Davis is a mountain of a man at 6-foot-9, 217 pounds. He has struggled at times to throw strikes, but he showed improved command during the 2024 spring with Oklahoma State where he posted a 4.17 ERA over 45.1 innings. Davis features a thunderous mid-90s fastball that has been up to 99 mph as well as a tight, high-80s power slider that will flash late teeth. He also has a curveball and changeup, but is a primary two-pitch pitcher with command issues he’ll need to iron out.

The tall, lanky 6-foot-8, 205-pound righthander creates a very difficult at-bat. Releasing the ball from a higher slot, Davis’ fastball—which already sits 90-93 mph and touches 94—jumps on the batter in a hurry due to the long-limbed extension out in front. With this, the Oklahoma State commit can attack all quadrants of the strike zone freely and find success. Accompanying his lively fastball is a slurvy breaking ball in the 76-79 mph range that flashes solid but will need to be tightened up in the future. Davis has shown feel for an 82-84 mph changeup in the past, which should serve him well at the next level as a third pitch. Davis has a high ceiling and plenty of physical projection to dream on, but he does have some rawness to his game which needs to be ironed out.
