Age At Draft: 21.3
BA Grade: 45/High
Tools: Hit: 50. Power: 50. Run: 55. Field: 45. Arm: 45.
Dreiling stood out for his well-rounded game and advanced hitting ability at Hays (Kansas) High, when he ranked as the No. 336 player in the 2022 draft class, but scouts wanted to see him perform at Tennessee because he lacked a true carrying tool. Now a draft-eligible sophomore, Dreiling has done just that in his two seasons in the Southeastern Conference and is a career .319/.445/.669 hitter in 116 games. He went from seven home runs as a freshman to 20 homers in 2024. Listed at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds, Dreiling has solid on-base skills and power with a swing that can get a bit rotational at times but has led to plenty of success with Tennessee. Most of his power comes to his pull side, and he tends to get overly pull-happy at times, but he has a solid eye at the plate. He has always walked at a high clip, with a career 18.5% walk rate. Dreiling has been susceptible to left-on-left sliders and will need to sharpen that area of his game, but he does enough offensively to project for solid-average hitting ability and power. Dreiling is a left fielder who runs well but is just a fringy defender who could potentially get to average with more work. His fringe-average arm is best suited for left.

Track Record: As an amateur, Dreiling was intriguing. After four years at high school in Kansas, he moved to Tennessee and posted a pair of excellent seasons. He broke out in 2024 with a campaign that included 23 home runs, which more than tripled his total from a year prior. His final season in Knoxville ended in storybook fashion when Tennessee won the College World Series and Dreiling took home the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award. The Rangers popped him in the second round and signed him for a bonus of $1,287,600.
Scouting Report: The Rangers had been interested in Dreiling from his high school career through his two seasons with the Volunteers. The lefthanded hitter is a well-rounded player without a standout or below-average tool on his card. He showed a keen eye at the plate in college and finished with a career walk rate of 18.5%. His power is mostly to his pull side, and he produced a 90th percentile exit velocity of 102.2 mph after switching from metal to wood at High-A Hickory. Dreiling did a good job putting the bat on the ball, too, finishing with a miss rate of just 15.5% during his pro debut. Though Dreiling played mostly center field as a pro, scouts entering the draft believed he was best suited for left field. He runs well and should cover plenty of ground, but his throwing arm is just fringe-average. The Rangers were heartened by the early defensive impressions they saw and believe he could be an average defender with more work. He’s an above-average runner and has long earned a reputation as a baseball rat who is willing to do whatever it takes to improve.
The Future: Dreiling has the marks of a well-rounded player who has the hitting ability and power to profile in an outfield corner. He has a chance to reach Double-A at some point in 2025.

Age At Draft: 19.3
A 6-foot, 200-pound outfielder and lefthanded hitter, Dreiling is a highly competitive and tough player who has a chance for average or fringe-average tools across the board. Nothing jumps off the page immediately, but there are some scouts who believe he’s a good enough hitter to become a 60 bat in the future. He’s a fringe-average runner, with fringe-average arm strength and average defensive ability and a chance for fringy or average power as well. Because there’s no carrying tool presently, many teams would prefer him to make it to campus at Tennessee where he will have a chance to prove his hitting ability and add more strength to tick up his overall tool set. He reminds some in the industry of current Volunteer outfielder Drew Gilbert given his profile and mentality on the baseball field. He is old for the class and will be a draft-eligible sophomore if he makes it to campus in Knoxville.
