  Taylor has one of the most impressive and lengthy track records of any college hitter in the 2025 draft class. In addition to impressive showings with USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team and in the Cape Cod League, Taylor has been a beacon of consistency in the middle of Indiana’s lineup. He’s a career .350/.459/.672 hitter who has homered at least 16 times each season and has more walks than strikeouts. Taylor has a physical build at 6-foot-1, 215 pounds. He has a simple setup in the box with a crouched stance and high handset. Taylor holds his bat flat above his back shoulder, and while he drops his hands in his load, they don’t drift all that much. His leg lift leads into a small stride, and he has above-average bat speed. Overall he uses a simple and repeatable operation without a lot of moving parts. The main draw with Taylor is his well-rounded offensive profile. He has above-average bat-to-ball skills and a polished approach, with a willingness and ability to use all fields. Taylor had a sub-20% chase rate in 2025 and only a handful of his swings came outside of the “shadow zone.” He has above-average power that plays as such in games and he is a consistent home run hitter with wood and metal bats. Taylor’s secondary tools are more limited. He’s a below-average athlete and runner who will likely be limited to left field, where he won’t move the needle defensively and has a below-average arm.

  After an impressive 2023 freshman season, Taylor had a sensational sophomore year in 2024 to the tune of a .357/.449/.660 slash line with 11 doubles, 20 home runs and 54 RBIs. Taylor has a strong, physical build at 6-feet, 190 pounds with a thick lower half. In the box, he has a strong base with a slightly open front side. Pre-swing, Taylor wiggles the bat slightly above his back shoulder, a timing mechanism that leads into a slight barrel tip and normal stride. He takes a direct path to contact and there is no shortage of bat speed. Most importantly, he gets to his plus power in games. Taylor’s pitch recognition skills are above-average, but he will sometimes get trigger happy against fastballs. Taylor mans left field for Indiana, where he has an average arm and below-average speed. Taylor is one of the premium college bats in the class and his hit/power combo gives him a chance to be a top-15 pick.
