Following a loud fall, Rodriguez earned a spot in coach Jim Schlossnagle's opening day lineup and never looked back. A key cog within the Longhorns' starting nine, he hit .313/.410/.516 with 14 doubles, seven home runs and 15 stolen bases. What makes Rodriguez's final slash line all the more impressive is that he played through a hand injury. Normally a switch-hitter, Rodriguez spent the last portion of the season batting exclusively from the left side. At the dish, he's flashed plus bat-to-ball skills and budding power to go along with a polished approach. Rodriguez spent time this spring at third and second base as well as left field, and it's yet to be seen where he fits best defensively. He handled himself fine at the hot corner, though his arm and actions likely profile best at second base on the dirt.
