Track Record: A member of the Brewers’ 2024 international class, Quintana received a $1.7 million signing bonus, the largest in the group. Following a mediocre offensive campaign in the Dominican Summer League in 2024, Quintana’s production was almost identical through 50 games in the Arizona Complex League in 2025. He and Nestor Cortes Jr. were dealt to the Padres at the 2025 trade deadline for Brandon Lockridge.
Scouting Report: A 6-foot-2 switch-hitter with projection remaining, Quintana was signed because of his offensive upside. The switch-hitter has an open stance in the batter’s box with a high handset and a noticeable leg lift and barrel tip in his load. Quintana has flashed present impact to his pull side and his 90th percentile exit velocity of 104.1 mph ranks ninth among all hitters in the system. His power should only continue to tick up as he matures physically, though there are hit tool questions. Quintana did a nice job of staying within the strike zone and chased at a respectable 25% clip. But there are clear pitch recognition issues, and his contact skills were below-average in 2025. He struggled mightily against secondary pitches. The most encouraging part of Quintana’s game continues to be his defense. After making positive strides with Milwaukee, that trend continued in 2025. While not the twitchiest athlete, he has smooth actions, above-average range, a reliable internal clock and an above-average arm. Quintana in 2025 also looked comfortable attacking the baseball and throwing from multiple arm slots.
The Future: Quintana’s upside and up-the-middle profile are the two biggest positives in his profile, but how much he’ll hit is still up in the air. After getting his feet wet in the Padres’ system in 2025, he projects to spend most—if not all—of the 2026 season with Low-A Lake Elsinore.

Track Record: The Brewers continued their aggressive push in Venezuela in 2024, when their top international signing bonus that year ($1.7 million) went to Quintana when he was 16. Two other shortstops from Milwaukee’s class—Jesus Made and Luis Peña—have since surpassed Quintana, who had a moderate offensive campaign in his debut.
Scouting Report: A 6-foot-2 switch-hitter with a projectable frame and disciplined hitting approach, Quintana signed because of his offensive upside. That potential at the plate was there in flashes in his pro debut, though he probably won’t be a fast mover through the system like other recent Brewers international signings. Quintana has a good eye for the strike zone, the best offensive attribute he showed in the Dominican Summer League. He has solid bat-to-ball skills and enough juice to occasionally leave the yard to his pull side with the strength projection for more to come as he fills out his lean, long-limbed frame, though he doesn’t have the explosive bat speed to project huge power. The most positive development for Quintana in his first year came on defense. A fringe-average runner, Quintana isn’t the typical quick-twitch athlete teams often prefer at shortstop, but showed good defensive instincts, smooth actions and surprising range to go with an average arm. There’s still a chance he could outgrow the position and slide to third base, but if he stays lean and agile, there’s now a greater possibility he could continue at shortstop.
The Future: Quintana will make his domestic debut in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League in 2025. He has the potential to rise up this list if his offensive impact takes a step forward.

Track Record: For the third time in four years, the Brewers’ top international signing came from Venezuela. Following Jackson Chourio in 2021 and Luis Lara in 2022, the Brewers made Quintana the centerpiece of their class when the international signing period opened on Jan. 15, 2024.
Scouting Report: Quintana was one of the most polished hitters in Latin America for 2024. He’s a switch-hitter with a fluid, easy stroke from both sides of the plate who recognizes pitches well, has good plate discipline and maneuvers the barrel well to make frequent contact. Quintana is especially advanced from the left side and has one of the better offensive track records among players eligible to sign in 2024. He makes hard contact from gap to gap with a chance for average or better power given the strength projection remaining in his 6-foot-2 frame. Quintana is a reliable defender at shortstop on the balls he gets to and should get a chance to develop at the position, though he’s a fringe-average runner and looks like he could eventually outgrow the position, with an average arm that would fit at third base.
The Future: Quintana will make his pro debut this year in the Dominican Summer League and should be one of the league’s top prospects.
