A product of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy who began his college career at Clarendon (Texas) JC, Cruz transferred to Bethune-Cookman for his junior season. He led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with 16 home runs during the regular season, earning him a spot on the all-conference team. The lefthanded hitter provides solid pop, but will need to improve defensively to stay behind the plate in pro ball.
