View Draft Report
Marrero is considered to be the best defensive catcher in Puerto Rico this year. He has good catch-and-throw skills and, listed at 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, is built like a prototypical backstop. He has an above-average arm and does a good job of receiving and blocking balls. There are questions about the strength of Marrero's bat, but he shows promise at the plate. The righthanded hitter creates solid bat speed that portends more power in the future. Marrero's advanced defensive ability may entice a team to take him and allow him to develop offensively. If not, Marrero is committed to Alabama State.
