It's unfortunate that only one prospect can rank No. 1 on the Hot Sheet, because this week two players are worthy of the honor. Choosing between Brian Matusz and Derek Norris was nearly impossible, but know that both are coming off of amazing weeks.

Back when Mat Latos was piling up scoreless innings and striking out batter after batter in the Midwest League, it was fair to ask how much of his success was based on a more savvy 21-year-old facing teenage hitters. Wonder no more. Latos has earned the top spot on this week's Hot Sheet with a convincing run of terror through the Texas League.

Prospect Hot Sheet: Aug. 29

Is the season almost over already? Brett Wallace may wish that it could go on a little longer. Just a couple of months ago he was playing for Arizona State, now he's in Double-A and leading Springfield to a playoff spot. It's an amazing run, and one worthy of being singled out as the No. 1 prospect on this week's Hot Sheet.

Before long, we'll be putting the Prospect Hot Sheet in hibernation for the winter, but before we do that, there are a lot of new names to add to the Sheet. Sure, Madison Bumgarner takes his usual spot in the top 10, but we also see plenty of new young faces, including Jaff Decker, Austin Romine and Josh Vitters.
