Spring Training MLB Prospect Report—March 17, 2021

Boston Red Sox

—No. 3 prospect Bobby Dalbec collected a hit and scored twice against the Braves. Dalbec continues to mash this spring, with eight hits in 26 at-bats, four home runs and eight RBIs, and is part of a formidable young core of Red Sox’s hitters that includes Alex Verdugo, Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts.

Cleveland Indians

—No. 22 prospect Bobby Bradley drove in two more runs with a double on Tuesday against the Angels. The 24-year-old first baseman couldn’t have asked for a better start to the spring, with five doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs, as he attempts to play in his first big league game since the 2019 season.

—No. 19 prospect Owen Miller had two hits in four at-bats, raising his average to .250 in 20 at-bats.

Detroit Tigers

Akil Baddoo is making a persuasive argument to stick with the big league club with an impressive spring. The No. 17 prospect hit his third home run on Tuesday against the Yankees, and is hitting .391/.548/.870 with seven RBIs and eight walks.

Houston Astros

—No. 3 prospect Jeremy Peña hit his first homer, a solo shot in the third inning off Jacob deGrom. The 23-year-old shortstop should make his upper minors debut at some point in 2021 after hitting .317 in 43 games at High-A in 2019.

Oakland Athletics

—No. 1 prospect Tyler Soderstrom doubled for the third time this spring. The 2020 first-rounder from Turlock (Calif.) High has four hits in seven at-bats and an RBI.

San Diego Padres

—No. 1 prospect MacKenzie Gore allowed a hit, walked two and struck out two in a pair of scoreless innings against the White Sox. The 22-year-old lefthander has struck out eight and walked six to go with a 3.00 ERA this spring.

Seattle Mariners

—No. 1 prospect Julio Rodriguez against the Royals hit his first home run of the spring, a solo shot to right-center field in the fifth inning. The 20-year-old outfielder should make his Double-A debut this year with an eye at getting to the majors by the end of the season.

Tampa Bay Rays

—No. 2 prospect Randy Arozarena collected a hit in three at-bats and scored on a Yandy Diaz single in the second inning against the Orioles. The 26-year-old outfielder’s bat has been quiet thus far in the spring, with five hits in 23 at-bats and one RBI, as he looks to follow up his impressive performance in the 2020 postseason.

—No. 3 prospect Luis Patino pitched a scoreless inning, marking his third consecutive scoreless appearance to start the spring. The 21-year-old righthander has allowed one hitter to reach base during that span.
