RoughRiders Introduce Rougie’s Red Punch

The Frisco RoughRiders have found a way to seize on the notoriety recently received by their parent club.

In a brawl with the Blue Jays on May 15, Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor landed a right hook that nearly floored Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista following Bautista’s hard slide into second base.

The slide rankled Odor, who has long had a reputation for hotheaded behavior on the field.

Odor’s punch went viral in a matter of minutes, and the promotions staff at Double-A Frisco quickly took advantage and came up with a new alcoholic energy drink and commemorative cup to purchase at all upcoming Riders home games.

The new drink, called Rougie’s Red Punch, is described thusly by the RoughRiders:

“The beverage is the perfect blend of ingredients made as an homage to Odor, who played for the Riders in parts of 2013 and 2014. It contains fruit punch (in honor of his prodigious right hook), an energy drink (perfect for those looking to embody Odor’s ferocious and frenetic style of play), and a secret ingredient from Odor’s native Venezuela.”

Frisco general manager Jason Dambach explained the drink’s inspiration in a press release.

“Odor is a feisty, energetic player, and we have come up the perfect drink to honor him,”  Dambach said. “Rougie’s Red Punch will punch you in the mouth with great flavor and an intense energy burst.”

The limited-edition cup is maroon and features an illustration of Odor slamming his fist into Bautista’s chin. The drink is available immediately at Frisco’s Dr. Pepper Ballpark and will be available at all home games this season, which in June will allow fans 21 and older to drink a Rougie’s Red Punch while they hang out beside the soon-to-be-completed Choctaw Lazy River beyond the outfield wall.
