The Guardians announced on Sunday that outfielder Chase DeLauter, the team’s No. 1 prospect and the No. 26 prospect on the recently updated Baseball America Top 100, has a fractured fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. This is a recurrence of the same injury that first occurred in 2022, and also cost him significant time in 2023. DeLauter has been excellent when he can get on the field. He’s a .315/.389/.489 hitter for his brief MiLB career, but this will be the third straight season that the foot injury will cost him significant time.
