Baseball America Prospect Report—April 15, 2021



Chicago White Sox

—No. 3 prospect Nick Madrigal tallied his first multi-hit game of the season with a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI and a run scored in the team's no-hit win over the Indians. Madrigal has a hit in eight of 11 games, with a .278/.366/.306 slash line and one RBI.

Yermin Mercedes added to his early-season resume, crushing his third home run off the bat at 111.2 mph. It was a three-run shot to give the White Sox a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Mercedes is 19-for-38 with 10 RBIs.

Miami Marlins

—No. 4 prospect Jazz Chisholm stole a base and hit his second home run, a three-run shot in the third inning of the team's win over the Braves. The electric 23-year-old middle infielder has a .259/.400/.630 slash line, with four runs scored, three stolen bases and five RBIs.

Minnesota Twins

—No. 4 prospect Ryan Jeffers singled and scored once in three at-bats in the team’s loss to the Red Sox. The 23-year-old catcher has appeared in six games in 2021, with three hits in 17 at-bats (.176), 10 strikeouts and two walks in that span.

San Diego Padres

—No. 5 prospect Ha-Seong Kim has struggled so far this season, but on Wednesday he had two hits in three at-bats in the team's loss to the Pirates. The 25-year-old shortstop/third baseman is hitting .226/.314/.323 with a home run and two RBIs.

Texas Rangers

—No. 11 prospect Kohei Arihara turned in his best start to date, pitching 5.2 innings of no-run ball, allowing three hits and no walks and striking out five. The 28-year-old righthander has walked just one batter in 14.2 innings, with seven strikeouts over that span.

Toronto Blue Jays

—No. 5 prospect Alejandro Kirk collected his first hit of the season with a two-run home run to left field that left the bat at 102.6 mph against the Yankees. The 22-year-old catcher had no trouble in his major league debut in 2020, collecting nine hits in 24 at-bats (.375), but thus far in 2021 he’s 1-for-16 with three strikeouts and one walk.
