Arizona Fall League Prospect Report: Pirates Prospect Hits Game-Winning Homer

Jase Bowen, OF, Pirates – Bowen hit the go-ahead, three-run homer with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to lift Salt River to a stunning 7-6 win over Scottsdale in the Arizona Fall League on Monday. The 23-year-old outfielder stepped to the plate with the Rafters down to their final out and launched a 3-1 pitch from Nationals righthander Holden Powell over the fence to lift Salt River to its third straight win. Bowen finished 2 for 4 and is now batting .383/.453/.660 with three doubles, two triples and two home runs in 12 AFL games.

James Triantos, 2B, Cubs – Triantos went 4 for 6 with three RBIs and a run scored in Mesa’s 10-8 win over Surprise. The 20-year-old infielder drove in the game-tying run with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to put a capper on another banner day this fall. Triantos is now batting .455 with a 1.359 OPS in the AFL through nine games.  

Robert Hassell III, OF, Nationals – Hassell went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in Scottsdale’s loss to Salt River. The 22-year-old outfielder hit just .221/.324/.321 with nine home runs and 41 RBIs in 121 games during the regular season, but he’s off to a solid start in the AFL. Hassell is batting .316/.356/.421 through his first 11 games.

Braden Nett, RHP, Padres – Nett pitched five innings with one hit and one run allowed, one walk and seven strikeouts in Peoria’s 6-4 loss to Glendale. An undrafted free agent out signing in 2022 out of St. Charles (Mo.) JC, Nett has been one of the pitching standouts early in the AFL season. The 21-year-old righthander has allowed just two runs in 13 innings and is tied for second in the AFL with 16 strikeouts.
