By Ben Badler

The Astros are still positioned to contend in 2021, but their farm system has declined. Some of that is a natural byproduct of consistently winning and picking later in the draft. Penalties from their sign stealing violations, namely the loss of first-round and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021, won't help.

What would make a huge impact for the Astros is a leap forward from righthander Forrest Whitley, who remains the team's top prospect. Once the top pitching prospect in baseball, Whitley is growing further removed from that title, with concerns mounting about whether he will reach his frontline starter projections. After suffering through a miserable 2019, he mostly stayed on the sidelines during 2020 with arm discomfort.

Today, we unveil the 10 best prospects in their system entering 2021.

We will chat Astros prospects at 3 p.m. ET. You can submit your questions here.
