In a draft short on quality catchers, DeVries may be overdrafted because of his position. He projects as a second- to fourth-round pick. His bat is his best tool and he hit a convincing .471 with six homers this spring. His catching skills are adequate. His thick body reminds scouts of Mets backup Todd Pratt. DeVries has committed to Louisiana State, making him one of the few top players to consider a school outside the region.
