In his first three years at Tennessee, Lipscomb started 12 games and hit two home runs. In 2022, he started 66 games and hit 22 home runs, tied for the second-most in a single season in Tennessee history. In the process he has journeyed from being largely off of teams’ radars to becoming a quality senior sign. There is some length to his swing, and scouts don’t see a lot of adjustability, but he’s shown legitimate power this year, and he has a knack for finding pitches where he can extend his arms and drive the ball. Defensively, he’s average at third base with an above-average arm. A fringe-average runner, Lipscomb could play all four corner spots in pro ball—he’s dabbled with left field in the past. Lipscomb is one of a number of quality senior signs. His lack of leverage and his age (22) likely will lower his signing bonus, but his skill makes him a legitimate fifth-round talent.
