  August Update: One of the more impressive athletes in the college class thanks to a strong power and speed combination at 6-foot-3, 213-pounds, Beck looks the part of a big league slugger now. In his first full season with Tennessee in 2021, Beck slashed .271/.336/.523 with 15 home runs, 16 doubles and eight stolen bases in nine tries (88.9%). He didn&#39t see that power translate to a wood bat in the Cape Cod League during the 2021 summer, where he hit just two home runs and slashed .267/.377/.400 in 27 games with Harwich. Beck came out of the gates hot during the 2022 season and impressed scouts with his impact ability and usage of the right-center gap. However, as the season progressed, Beck&#39s performance dipped, and his swing-and-miss issues became more apparent. Despite being the three-hole hitter for Tennessee, Beck was one of the team&#39s worst pure hitters and his .248 SEC average through 31 games was the second-worst mark of any Volunteer hitter with at least 50 at-bats. He has a long bat path and will expand the zone, and some scouts thought he looked like too much of a guess hitter at times. He did crush fastballs and offspeed offerings but struggled with spin and because of that his hit tool is a question mark. His secondary tools are not, as Beck is an above-average runner with easy plus raw power (his exit velocities are among the best in the class) and a strong throwing arm that would allow him to profile as a prototypical right fielder. Beck signed with the Rockies for $2,200,000 after being selected with the 38th overall pick.
