Prager’s amateur arc reflects the shifting dynamics of college baseball in the NIL era. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound lefthander has never overpowered hitters, but he was among the most consistent pitchers in the country in 2024, posting a 2.95 ERA and 31.2% strikeout rate over 97.2 innings for Texas A&M. He ranked as the No. 66 prospect in that year’s draft and was drafted by the Angels in the third round at 81st overall—a pick with a $948,600 slot value. Instead of signing, Prager returned to school for his redshirt junior season in 2025, becoming the highest-drafted college player to decline a deal. Like the Aggies overall, Prager failed to replicate his 2024 success amid a disappointing spring. Texas A&M ranked No. 1 in the preseason but missed the NCAA Tournament entirely. Prager’s ERA jumped to 4.21 over 83.1 innings, while his strikeout rate plummeted to 20.9%. Prager’s velocity was a beat lighter and he averaged just 88.4 mph on his four-seam fastball, though it still featured excellent riding life. He rounds out his arsenal with an upper-70s changeup and low-80s slider, and his above-average control from his high-slot delivery remained intact. Still, Prager’s struggles underscored his profile’s narrow margin for error if he hopes to one day carve out a role in the back of a big league rotation.

    Scouting Grades: Fastball: 40 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 60.
