Loraine came to Coker after two years as a catcher/righthander at Lindenwood (Mo.). He started 39 games behind the plate in 2012 and logged just seven innings on the mound, but he has taken a big step forward as a pitcher this year. He was batting .335/.432/.518 but got scouts' attention as a closer, recording 15 saves and striking out 65 in 60 innings while walking 22. He sits 92-94 mph with his fastball and has shown an improved slider that can get up to 83-84 mph.
