Commit/Drafted: Hawaii Age At Draft: 18.4 BA Grade:45/Extreme Tools:Hit: 50. Power: 55. Run: 55. Field: 50. Arm: 55.
Saltiban is the top Hawaiin prospect in the class and a late riser who impressed scouts this spring with a solid all-around package of tools. A 6-foot, 185-pound righthanded hitter, Saltiban has a polished, aggressive swing with a lot of bat speed and a chance for above-average power. His competition level in Hawaii wasn’t the greatest, and scouts don’t have much history with him facing quality velocity and secondary stuff, so hit tool evaluations could vary strongly, but Saltiban played in the MLB Draft League after the season to get more reps against more advanced arms. He has turned in plus run times and should settle in as an above-average runner in the future, with split opinions on whether or not he’ll stick in center field long term. He has the above-average arm that could allow him to play either corner well, and some teams think he’ll outgrow center field while others think he has the speed, instincts and defensive chops to stick up the middle. Some teams are more aggressive on late-rising prospects than others, given how much performance track record and history are weighted, but those who like Saltiban view him as a fourth- or fifth-round talent now. If he doesn’t get signed, he’s committed to Hawaii.

Track Record: Saltiban was an outfielder in high school, but a Phillies crosschecker saw him take grounders in warmups and was intrigued. They drafted him in the third round in 2023 on the strength of the kind of skill set that required patience but was dripping with upside. He hinted at that potential during the 2024 season, but his follow-up campaign was stunted by a ruptured testicle. He spent his winter playing in Australia.
Scouting Report: Saltiban’s injury played a big part in the disjointed nature of his season. When he was on the field, however, there were clear weaknesses. While his contact was plenty loud, his miss rates were high. His overall mark was 31.5%, and his in-zone and chase rates were elevated as well. Add those numbers up, and the result is a 31.2% strikeout rate over 66 games at High-A. He split his time in Jersey Shore mainly between second base and center field. Saltiban is quick and athletic and tracks balls well in center field to all sectors. His above-average speed and average arm strength fit there as well. He’s a bit stretched at second base, which is understandable considering his lack of experience at the position. Scouts also praised Saltiban for his hard work and overall makeup.
The Future: Saltiban should begin 2026 back at Jersey Shore, where he will look to put a rough 2025 campaign in the rearview. Above all, he needs to make more contact, but his overall game needs plenty of polish as well. He fits best as a versatile bench player.
Track Record: Already 19 on draft day, Nori was one of the older high school prospects in 2024. That didn’t keep the Phillies from selecting the Michigan prep product with the 27th overall pick and using a bonus of $2,497,500 to keep him from going to Mississippi State. His pro debut was limited to just 16 games, all of which came at Low-A Clearwater of the Florida State League.
Scouting Report: Nori’s skill set is centered around speed, defense and athleticism. The lefthanded-hitting outfielder is a double-plus runner and was one of the fastest players in his draft class. He sets up with a wide base, employs minimal pre-pitch movements and uses a quick, level swing to spray line drives to all sectors of the ballpark before scooting around the basepaths. He’s earned praise for his two-strike approach and has shown solid raw power in batting practice, as evidenced by an impressive showing in the home run derby at the 2023 PG All-American Classic. In games, he shows a strong ability to control the zone without chasing. Now, he needs to learn when to unleash his best swings and take shots at making more impactful contact. If he reaches his ceiling, his power could get to fringe-average. Nori’s 60-yard dash time at the PG event was the fastest among all prospects in attendance. The speed also plays in center field, allowing him to glide to balls forward, backward and to either side. He projects as an above-average defender with above-average arm strength.
The Future: After getting his feet wet at Low-A in 2024, Nori is likely to return to the level to begin 2025. He has the look of a turn-and-burn center fielder who can lose a ball over the fence every now and then.
Track Record: Saltiban was the highest-rated Hawaiian prospect in the class and began opening the eyes of evaluators during his draft spring after showing an impressive set of tools. The Phillies drafted him in the third round and signed him away from a commitment to Hawaii with a bonus of $602,500. The selection came with a twist. As an amateur, Saltiban was an outfielder, but Phillies crosschecker Shane Bowers saw him taking grounders before a game and believed he had the chops to handle the position as a pro. He got into 10 games in the Florida Complex League.
Scouting Report: Saltiban has a smooth, simple swing that the Phillies believe should produce a combination of average and power, and noted that his amateur exit velocities were better than average for the typical 18-year-old. The biggest caveat is that he hasn’t had much experience against the type of high-velocity fastballs he’ll see in pro ball. He has plenty of bat speed, however, which should help him get to 55-grade power. Saltiban’s last experience at shortstop came when he was in Little League, so his development at the position might take a bit of patience. In a system with Trea Turner in the big leagues and a host of prospects already at the position, he’ll have plenty of leash to develop. Saltiban earns above-average marks for his speed and throwing arm.
The Future: Saltiban should reach Low-A in 2024, depending on how the team deploys the rest of its young middle infielders. He’s a risky prospect who could provide plenty of value one day.
