School: Oklahoma State Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.2
BA Grade: 50/High
Schubart was a notable high school prospect who showed tantalizing power upside at a young age, but questions about his pure hitting ability helped him reach campus at Oklahoma State. He was a Freshman All-American in 2023 and went on to belt 59 home runs in three seasons at OSU, a total that ranks sixth in Division I since 2023. Schubart is a 6-foot-5, 235-pound lefthanded hitter who pairs elite strength with a disciplined approach. He boasts easy double-plus raw power, with exit velocities that rival the top hitters in the country, and is capable of launching balls to all fields with seemingly minimal effort. While Schubart has run consistently low contact rates and can be beaten within the zone, he rarely chases and has a strong feel for the strike zone. His selective aggression leads to a steady stream of walks and helps him tap into his power without needing to sell out. Schubart is a plodding runner and below-average defender who has mostly played corner outfield in college but could slide to first base in pro ball. He earns split feedback on his athleticism and defense but will need to improve those aspects of his game regardless. With a touch more contact, he has a chance to become a true middle-of-the-order masher and should fit in the first three rounds.

Track Record: Schubart has exuded power potential since his high school days, then became one of the best sluggers in Oklahoma State history with 59 home runs in three seasons. He boasted some of the most impressive raw power in the 2025 draft class, and after a 19-homer season signed for $730,000 as a third-round pick with the Guardians.
Scouting Report: Schubart has a hulking, 6-foot-5, 233-pound frame with the sort of strength, size and bat speed you would expect of a player with easy 70-grade raw power. He hits titanic blasts to all parts of the park with great leverage and plate coverage because of his long limbs. His power comes with impressive patience and strike-zone selectivity that has led to consistently impressive walk rates. Schubart’s college walk rate was 18.9% and he posted a 22.7% walk rate in his pro debut. That trade-off is lots of swing-and-miss questions. Schubart’s contact skills are well below-average and he might never be more than a 40-grade hitter because of it. He’s a plodding runner with below-average speed who will need to improve his defense to be reliable in a corner, and he might be best suited at first base.
The Future: Schubart has game-changing power that could drive a lineup, but his hit tool carries risk and his defensive abilities will put plenty of pressure on his game power continuing to surface against better pitching.

Schubart was named the Big 12 freshman of the year in 2023 after hitting .338/.451/.667 with 20 doubles, 17 home runs and 74 RBIs. He took his game to a different level in 2024 and posted a gaudy .370/.513/.838 slash line with 10 doubles, 23 home runs and 68 RBIs. The 6-foot-5 Schubart has thunderous raw power and generated an eye-popping 116 mph max exit velocity in 2024, but that comes with a lot of swing-and-miss, evidenced by an overall contact rate of just 63%—including an in-zone contact rate of 71.%. While his power is plus-plus, he will need to cut down on the whiffs in 2025. His saving grace offensively is a savvy eye that prevents him from expanding the zone and has led to plenty of walks. Schubart played for USA Baseball’s college national team during the 2024 summer and was one of the best hitters on the team after going 6-for-14 (.429) with two home runs, 13 walks and three strikeouts in six games. He’s a slower runner who will be limited to a corner and might fit best at first base.

Schubart is a physical, lefthanded hitting outfielder with significant power potential. Listed at 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, Schubart was one of the more impressive power bats at last summer’s Perfect Game National showcase. That power should continue to get louder as Schubart fully fills out a frame that has more room for strength, but it also comes with significant swing and miss. His bat path can get lengthy and while it is leveraged for power with uphill loft, it can get too steep at times as well. He’ll need to show power in-game, as he’s a definite corner outfield profile, with below-average running ability and average arm strength. Schubart is young for the class and could be a difficult sign away from Michigan.
