Jebb made an impact on Michigan State’s program as a freshman, when he made the Big Ten All-Freshman team in 2021 and was one of the team leaders in hits. He then followed up with an even better sophomore campaign, where he slashed .356/.429/.490 with 10 doubles and 20 stolen bases. Following the season he played in the Cape Cod League, where he ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the circuit and continued to hit for average and showcase his speed on the bases. During his 2023 draft season Jebb hit .337/.438/.495 with a 13.3% walk rate and 11.6% strikeout rate. A 6-foot-1, 185-pound lefthanded hitter, Jebb has an unorthodox swing, with a crouched and hunched over stance and slappy approach designed to spray line drives to all fields. He does have solid bat speed, and can occasionally put a bit of a charge into the ball when he gets extended to his pull side, but it’s certainly a contact-over-power sort of approach that caters to Jebb’s strengths. His pure bat-to-ball skills are strong, and he managed an 88% contact rate in 2023, including a 93% in-zone contact rate to go with solid pitch recognition. Jebb is a plus runner and has solid range defensively, but needs to improve his infield actions and arm strength at shortstop. Center field could be a possibility for him as well.

BA Grade/Risk: 45/High.
Track Record: The Pirates drafted Jebb No. 42 overall and signed him to a slightly underslot $1,647,500 bonus in 2023 after a solid career at Michigan State. The contact specialist hit .297 in his pro debut that summer with Low-A Bradenton. He struggled mightily to begin 2024 with High-A Greensboro, hitting just .200 with a 26% strikeout rate through May, but rebounded to slash .253/.341/.355 with a system-best 43 steals in 113 games.
Scouting Report: Jebb is a near-elite runner who looks the part of a classic lefthanded slasher with fringy power. He chokes up on the bat, and his swing’s momentum frequently propels him toward first base. Jebb’s deft barrel skills traditionally allowed him to spray balls gap-to-gap and let his speed do the rest. But Jebb’s chase, miss and in-zone miss rates spiked early in 2024 as he tried to find the right analog between contact and power. He also struggled with spin in 2024. Those elements led to an elevated 19.1% strikeout rate in 2024, although a swing change unlocked far more contact in the second half of the season. A shortstop as an amateur, Jebb is a talented and versatile defender with a fringe-average arm perhaps better suited for second base. He also dabbled in center field, which suits his speed and athleticism.
The Future: Jebb has the contact ability, speed and up-the-middle defensive chops to profile as a super-utility type in the big leagues. He’s ready for Double-A Altoona in 2025.

BA Grade: 45/High
Track Record: After a decorated career at Michigan State, Jebb was the Pirates’ choice with their second-round selection and signed for a bonus of $1,647,500. He made the Big Ten’s All-Freshman team in 2021. He was even better in his sophomore season, then put together a standout stint in the Cape Cod League. He began his pro career in Low-A Bradenton and put together a solid opening act, including a .780 OPS and 11 stolen bases. He finished his college career with more walks (82) than strikeouts (68) and continued that trend in the first stages of his professional career.
Scouting Report: Jebb’s game is based around contact and speed. His swing is unorthodox but he can be short and quick to the ball and manipulate the barrel to different sectors of the strike zone. Though he’s never hit for much impact, the Pirates believe there’s more to come after seeing him reach the upper deck at PNC Park in a pre-draft workout. He’s also shown the chops to filet balls to the opposite field. Jebb has plus speed, but his fringy throwing arm might force him off of shortstop as he moves up the ladder. He’s an average defender at the position now, and his speed might make center field an option as well.
The Future: Jebb will move to High-A Greensboro in 2024. The hitter-friendly environment there will give him a power boost. If he reaches his ceiling, he could be a middle-diamond defender who hits toward the bottom of the lineup.
