Track Record: Even after signing Carlos Alvarez, Deivid Coronil and Jhoan De La Cruz, the Padres had enough pool money left to sign Su in October 2025 for $775,000. A native of Taiwan, Su was excellent in the WBSC U-18 World Cup, where he pitched to a 1.91 ERA with 14 strikeouts across 7.1 innings.
Scouting Report: Su has a lean, ultra-projectable 6-foot-1 frame with ample room to add physicality. He has a whippy arm stroke with big-time arm speed and has an appealing combination of pitchability and pure stuff. Su’s fastball sits in the upper 80s to low 90s with life in the top half of the zone and should experience a velocity jump as he continues to fill out. Su has advanced feel for an above-average slider, which he spins well. It profiles as the most reliable swing-and-miss offering in his arsenal. Su rounds out his three-pitch mix with a changeup that’s more of a show pitch at this stage. As Su continues to fill out, expect his entire arsenal to tick up both in terms of velocity and dynamism.
The Future: Su will make his professional debut in 2026, likely in the Arizona Complex League. As is common with most international signees, there is no need to push the envelope or rush his development. Su is one of the more interesting arms to follow in the system.
