A large and physical, 6-foot-4, 215-pound righthander, Wyatt was a solid reliever and spot starter for Virginia in 2020 and 2021 and entered the 2022 season with high expectations thanks to a fastball up to 98 mph with a potential plus changeup. He struggled this spring, however, and posted just a 6.48 ERA over 25 innings, with 20 strikeouts (17.4 K%) and 19 walks (16.5 BB%). Wyatt is an open strider down the mound who throws with effort and has a straight reliever profile. He does have arm talent and sits in the 93-94 mph range with a heavy fastball. His mid-80s slider backed up this spring and didn’t fool many hitters, though scouts have long appreciated a firm, mid-80s changeup could become an above-average offering. His arm talent alone should be exciting for professional player development groups, but there are more questions at the end of the 2022 season than there were entering it.
