School: Oaks Christian HS, Westlake Village, Calif. Drafted/Committed: LSU
Age At Draft: 18.4
BA Grade: 55/Extreme
Young is a high-end athlete with a loud combination of physicality and tools. He stands 6-foot-5, 215 pounds and creates monstrous raw power with great strength, bat speed and leverage in his righthanded swing. While Young has great power potential, his track record introduces concern about how much contact he will make. His swing features plenty of moving parts with a significant barrel tip and hand hitch in his load, and he swung and missed at a high rate against all pitch types during the 2024 showcase circuit. This spring, scouts noted that he was doing a better job making contact and tapping into his power. Young is an above-average runner who moves well for his size but should slide from shortstop to either third base or an outfield corner in pro ball. He has one of the better arms in the class—a 70-grade missile launcher that would be an asset at third base or in right field—but his actions aren’t quick and crisp enough for shortstop. Young was originally a member of the 2026 class, but he reclassified for this draft in September 2023. He’s the nephew of former big leaguers Delmon and Dmitri Young. While he’s committed to LSU, Young’s power upside is enough to help him go in the first two rounds.

Track Record: Young comes from a family of athletes. His uncles Dmitiri and Delmon both played in the major leagues and his aunt DeAnn played college softball. Quentin has a lengthy amateur track record including time with USA Baseball’s 18U National Team in 2024 and finished his SoCal high school career by setting an Oaks Christian School record for home runs. He reclassified from the 2026 class in 2023 and was committed to LSU. The Twins drafted him 54th overall in 2025, and he made his pro debut in September, playing five games for Low-A Fort Myers.
Scouting Report: Young is a physical specimen, listed at 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, with surprising athleticism for his size. His swing is long, with a pronounced hitch, and there are major questions about his ability to make contact. His swing decisions also need work and he needs to do a better job controlling the strike zone. Hit tool development is everything for him as his power potential is massive. He has easy plus-plus raw power, but its utility in game will depend on his contact ability. Young has above-average speed and his defensive skill set is advanced for his age. His plus-plus arm will play anywhere and he has a good chance to stick at third base where he shows solid instincts and average hands and range.
The Future: Young’s combination of tools give him one of the highest ceilings in the system, but there is substantial risk. His development will be slow and his range of outcomes is wide. He will likely start 2026 in Fort Myers where he will be one of the youngest players in the league.

Young was one of the top players for 2026 before he reclassified into the 2025 class in September 2023. At 6-foot-5, he’s a physically imposing righthanded hitter with raw power that stacks up with anyone in the prep class. A nephew of former big leaguers Delmon and Dmitri Young, he starts his swing with a barrel tip toward the pitcher and takes a leg kick into a violent swing with vicious bat speed. It’s an aggressive approach and swing that generates a lot of torque to produce plus raw power that should be a plus-plus tool in the future in a power-over-hit offensive profile. Young has spent time in the infield and the outfield. He has a plus-plus arm and could potentially fit at either third base or in right field.
