Salina is a 6-foot-1, 215-pound righthander who pitched out of the bullpen for George Mason in 2023, then transferred to St. Bonaventure for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He was a high priority for scouts in the 2025 season because he’s shown some of the most impressive arm strength in the class with a fastball that sits in the mid 90s and has gotten into the triple digits. Salina struck out 26 batters in his first four starts and 17.1 innings, but suffered an arm injury that required Tommy John surgery and missed the rest of the season. That adds risk to a profile that already comes with some reliever question marks given the effort in his delivery and his relatively light track record as a starter. Salina’s go-to secondary is a mid-80s slider with two-plane life. He does have a firm, upper-80s changeup but rarely used it.

Track Record: Salina began his college career at George Mason before transferring to St. Bonaventure ahead of his sophomore season. He came into his own with the Bonnies, and following an impressive 2024 campaign and a loud fall season, he cemented himself as one of the top college arms in the Northeast. Salina’s season was limited to just four starts in 2025 due to an arm injury that required Tommy John surgery, but he pitched to a 4.15 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.
Scouting Report: Salina is a slightly undersized righthander who works exclusively out of the stretch and features a high-effort delivery in which he has big-time arm speed. His calling card is his mid-to-upper-90s fastball that has reached triple digits. It jumps out of his hand and was overpowering for opposing hitters in 2025. Salina generated whiff and chase rates of 34% and 33% with his heater. He pairs it with a mid-to-upper-80s slider that flashes two-plane break. Both pitches are viable swing-and-miss offerings, but he lacks a true third pitch and his command remains fringy. There’s certainly reliever risk and Salina will need to expand his arsenal in order to stick as a starter, but his fastball/slider combination is perhaps the loudest one-two punch in the system.
The Future: After having Tommy John surgery in April 2025, Salina’s pro debut will likely wait until the middle of the spring or early summer 2026. The Padres will attempt to develop the high-octane righthander as a starter, but there’s a chance he ends up as a two-pitch reliever.
